Honouring those who gave their lives in service

The Police Memorial Trust of New Zealand is working to develop, fund and establish a national memorial in Wellington to commemorate fallen New Zealand Police staff.

To develop, fund and establish a national New Zealand Police memorial to commemorate fallen New Zealand Police staff. For the benefit of the community and in appreciation of the sacrifice made by the fallen.

The gap we are addressing

A nation without a place to remember

No national memorial

There is currently no public national memorial dedicated to fallen New Zealand Police staff.

No place to gather

Families and communities have no dedicated space to gather, reflect and commemorate those who died serving their community.

Limited access

The Memorial Wall at the Royal New Zealand Police College is not accessible to the public or families, and commemorates only those killed by a criminal act.

Our approach

How we are working towards the memorial

  • Fundraising and resource mobilisation
  • Partnerships and collaboration
  • Research and documentation
  • Education and awareness
  • Advocacy and public awareness
